The temptation to compete solely on price is strong but often results in a race to the bottom with frequent churn and little customer loyalty. Service providers need to be prepared to offer more than a simple pipe, providing bundles and value-add a la carte options, such as home monitoring/security systems, end-to-end managed Wi-Fi, and cellular phone service. Providing more options from day one of the customer relationship increases ARPU from day one, resulting in a solid balance sheet and the ability to reinvest in the business as needed.
